The Rev. Fr. Dan Suelzle has served as campus pastor at Wittenberg Lutheran Chapel, University of North Dakota, since 2017. A native of Hazen, North Dakota, he began his studies in vocal performance at UND before transferring to Concordia University—Nebraska, where he earned a B.A. in psychology and completed his pre-seminary training.

He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 2011, having spent his vicarage year at Christ Lutheran Church and School in Little Rock, Arkansas. His first call was to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eugene, Oregon, where he served for six years before being called to campus ministry at Wittenberg Lutheran Chapel.

Fr. Suelzle currently lives in Grand Forks, North Dakota with his wife, Mary, and their four children: Norah (15), Ephraim (13), Miriam (12), and Adelaide (8). Together, they have embraced classical homeschooling for their family.

Mary, originally from Austin, Texas, also attended Concordia University—Nebraska, earning a B.A. in Theology. She later completed her M.A. with a counseling emphasis and received Deaconess Certification from Concordia Seminary. A gifted musician, she teaches and plays piano and sings in the local community choir. She also enjoys gardening and crocheting.

Fr. Suelzle is the author of Misquoted: Rethinking Commonly Misused Bible Verses (2019). As a family, the Suelzles enjoy reading, camping, and making music. Fr. Suelzle also enjoys hiking and woodworking.

Incidentally, Fr. Suelzle has also been Fr. Leigeber’s close friend since their college days, where they were apartment mates, and through seminary, where they shared many classes. In fact, many of the defining features of All Saints—its deep commitment to catechesis, rich liturgical life, and emphasis on being a holy, set-apart community—grew out of the ongoing conversations they had together during those formative years.
