Founded in 1881, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church has long been a pillar of Waldenburg and of western Poinsett County, serving not only as the place for the weekly distribution of the Gospel and the Sacraments for the area but also as an integral part of the community’s social fabric. Over nearly a century and a half, the church has stood firm on the unwavering foundation of Christ and has been the touchpoint between heaven and earth for congregational members, guests, and the residents of Waldenburg and the surrounding area. With its rich history and commitment to serving the world with the Gospel of Jesus, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church continues to preach, teach, and live out the holy Christian faith in this close-knit, family-centered, agricultural community, playing a vital role in the cultural and religious heritage of the area.
